The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) recently unveiled its Sankalp Patra on April 14, 2024, coinciding with Ambedkar Diwas. Led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the launch ceremony was attended by BJP National President Shri J.P. Nadda, Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, and Manifesto Committee Chairperson Shri Rajnath Singh. The Sankalp Patra, or manifesto, highlights the BJP’s commitment to the comprehensive welfare and progress of all citizens, with a focus on collaborative efforts between the party’s volunteers and the nation.
During the launch, Prime Minister Modi dedicated the Sankalp Patra to the marginalized segments of society, including the poor, youth, farmers, and women. The manifesto envisions transformative growth for these groups over the next five years. The Sankalp Patra reflects inputs gathered from extensive public outreach, encompassing the aspirations of millions.
One of the key commitments outlined in the manifesto is Modi’s Guarantee for the Underprivileged Families. The government pledges to continue providing free rations to over 80 crore citizens through the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana for the next five years. Additionally, under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which has already offered free and quality healthcare services up to ₹5 lakh to impoverished families, the government commits to further strengthening this initiative.
The Sankalp Patra also includes Modi’s Guarantee for Women Empowerment. The government aims to empower rural women economically by uplifting three crore more rural women to become “Lakhpati Didis.” Efforts will also be directed towards providing women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) with skills and resources, integrating them into various service sectors. Infrastructure development, including working women’s hostels and daycare centers, will be prioritized near industrial hubs to encourage greater female workforce participation. Measures will also be taken to expand healthcare services focused on combating prevalent issues like Anaemia, Breast Cancer, Cervical Cancer, and Osteoporosis. The enactment of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam will be systematically implemented to ensure adequate representation for women in legislative bodies.
The Sankalp Patra also addresses Modi’s Guarantee for Youth Welfare. Stricter enforcement of laws will combat misconduct in recruitment exams, safeguarding the future of the youth.
For senior citizens, the government promises to include them in the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, ensuring their access to free and quality healthcare. Leveraging postal and digital networks, senior citizens will also enjoy seamless access to social security benefits and essential government services.
In terms of farmers’ welfare, the government pledges to strengthen agricultural support through the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, which provides annual financial assistance of ₹6,000 to farmers. The PM Fasal Bima Yojana will be fortified with technological enhancements to expedite assessment, payouts, and grievance resolution. The government also commits to periodically elevate Minimum Support Price (MSP) rates for major crops. Additionally, the launch of the Krishi Infrastructure Mission aims at coordinated agri-infrastructure projects to include storage facilities, irrigation, and food processing units. Technology-driven irrigation initiatives will be introduced to efficiently manage water resources and expand irrigation capacity. The Bharat Krishi satellite will be launched to aid in crop forecasting, pesticide application, and other farm-related activities.
The Sankalp Patra also addresses Modi’s Guarantee for Workers’ Dignity. Ensuring periodic reviews of National Floor Wages to uphold the dignity of labor is a priority. Auto, taxi, truck, and other drivers will be integrated into social security schemes through the e-Shram portal, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
Small businesses and artisans will be encouraged to embrace the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to expand their businesses.
The Sankalp Patra also emphasizes targeted initiatives for tribal welfare, including measures to eradicate malnutrition among tribal children and provide comprehensive healthcare services in tribal areas. The development of robust infrastructure along border regions and the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) are prioritized for national security. The BJP aims to make Bharat the third-largest economy and foster employment opportunities, particularly in manufacturing sectors. Good governance initiatives, such as the implementation of a Uniform Civil Code and efforts towards achieving simultaneous elections, are also part of the manifesto. The BJP also focuses on education by establishing new higher learning institutions to bolster educational opportunities across the country. Emphasizing peace and resolution of conflicts in Northeastern states, along with efforts to remove the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) gradually, is also a priority for balanced regional development. These commitments embody the BJP’s vision for a prosperous and inclusive Bharat, ensuring progress and empowerment for all segments of society. Who-so-ever party comes in Power, We can only hope for a better and prosperous India in the coming days.
