About the Author: Lt Gen ‘Tiny’ Dhillon

Lieutenant General Kanwal Jeet Singh “Tiny” Dhillon, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, VSM (Retd), is a distinguished retired officer of the Indian Army with a service career spanning nearly four decades: he was commissioned in December 1983 and served until January 2022. An alumnus of his time-honored institutions like the National Defence Academy, Indian Military Academy, and National Defence College, Dhillon also holds advanced academic credentials such as MSc, MPhil, and PhD.

He is widely respected for commanding the Srinagar-based XV (Chinar) Corps during critical periods including the aftermath of the Pulwama attack, the Balakot air strikes, and the abrogation of Articles 370 & 35A in Kashmir. He later served as Director General of the Defence Intelligence Agency and Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Intelligence) under the Chief of Defence Staff until his retirement on 31 January 2022.

Throughout his service, Dhillon was honored with multiple prestigious awards: the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal, and Vishisht Seva Medal.
